Contrast’s webinar studio is central to the product experience. It offers a wide range of tools for hosting events, customizing layouts, and driving live interaction - all in one place. With so much functionality available upfront, the challenge wasn’t usability but guidance: helping new users discover what they could do and where to start.
In a category where trust and credibility are everything, the onboarding experience sets the tone. Generic product tours and static checklists felt out of place - they lacked personality, didn’t reflect Contrast’s brand, and most users simply skipped them. For a product-led motion built around self-serve adoption, Contrast needed a more intuitive and engaging way to welcome users, demonstrate value, and build confidence from the start.
Solution
Contrast partnered with Saltfish to launch an embedded onboarding experience inside the webinar studio. Instead of generic tours, new users now get a contextual, video-based interactive walkthrough that feels native to the platform.
Each step is short, visual, and directly tied to the interface, explaining key functions while building user confidence. The format offers users the choice to continue or explore independently after each video, balancing flexibility with guidance. This human, high-touch approach reflects Contrast’s brand and complements the interactive, audience-focused nature of the product.
Outcome
Since launching the new onboarding experience, Contrast has seen a clear shift in user engagement. More than half of all users who opted into the walkthrough completed the full multi-step journey, a significant improvement over previous onboarding tools.
This high participation rate suggests that users find the experience both intuitive and valuable. Early feedback has been positive, with users responding well to the clarity, tone, and pacing of the experience. Compared to legacy tours and checklists, Saltfish has delivered a more engaging and trusted way to guide users through the studio without adding support overhead or engineering lift.

Looking ahead
Encouraged by user engagement and positive feedback, the Contrast team is exploring new ways to extend Saltfish across the product. Upcoming use cases include feature discovery, plan upgrades, and customer education moments.
The team sees Saltfish as a scalable way to deliver more personal, engaging in-product communication - especially in flows where clarity and timing matter most. By replacing static prompts with dynamic video, they’re making guidance feel more human without adding operational complexity.
